I am trying to set up the clutch so that Kieran does have to use much effort to disengage the clutch.

Now the clutch adjustment looks a lot like an old Honda 125J I used to have in my younger days, long ago, and I know that I could by adjusting the cables both at the clutch and handlebar ends that I could set it so that I had to pull the lever only a tad to disengage the clutch.

Now I am trying this on the stomp without running the bike, but the clutch does not seem to disengage fully when in gear, so that it can be freewheeled with the clutch lever pulled in.

Am I missing something here, like maybe this clutch never fully disengages

mines like that, doesnt freewheel well when in gear and clutch is in, but once started and i use clutch its fine

make sure there is no slack in the actuator arm on the side of the engine
try adjusting near the lever if that fails
